After the huge success of the first part of Hades, players wonder if the next adventure will be as good as the previous one. One thing is for sure... A lot has changed in the story. Will it help? Or maybe it will hurt?
A wind of change
The game world is well-known to players, but with a twist: we're leaving the Underworld. We set out to wage war on Olympus. In Hades 2, we have a kind of continuation of the story, which this time does not concern the son of the Greek god of the underworld, but his daughter. We are talking about the princess, Melinoë. Similarly to the protagonist of the first part, the main character cannot die, so after each death she returns to life again. The only thing that has not changed is the strong commitment of Supergiant Games to the story of the game. The creators have already shown us how important it is to tell a story well. There is a lot of talk about destiny, fighting the inevitable and fighting, which can often resemble the Sisyphean Task, which drives the heroes crazy. The whole thing is presented in an incredibly epic narrative. We love Hades not only for its unique style, but above all for this story. We can assure you with full responsibility that we have all this and even more in Hades 2!
Melinoë – Who is she?
This is the main protagonist of Hades 2. She is a princess with a very serious mission: everything depends on her. Her goal is to kill Chronos, the titan of time. The story is interesting because the antagonist is the main character's grandfather. Family ties are always more interesting, not only in life but especially in games. When we control Melinoë, we will defeat hundreds, if not thousands, of enemies, and we will do it with the help of shadowy weapons. Melinoë's arsenal boasts not only shadowy weapons but also potent magic that chills the blood, reminiscent of her patron goddess, Hekate, the mistress of witchcraft. She is the goddess of darkness and witchcraft, who will help our heroine gain experience.
Oh My god!
The Hades sequel brings back beloved characters from the first game. Greek mythology takes a bow as we see Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Aphrodite, Artemis, Ares, Dionysus, Hermes, Demeter, and more on your screen again. But there are also new faces. There are 12 Greek gods in Hades 2. We also heard that Apollo will be making an appearance, which could stir up some trouble. Why? Spoiler-free zone!
Press LMB to attack
The game's controls haven't changed drastically. In fact, everything we loved about Hades remains, with only a few tweaks added to improve the experience. We're still talking about isometric gameplay, but also about graphics that give this production an extraordinary atmosphere. When you start the game, you'll be safe. You'll also have a moment to acquire your equipment before fighting in different abysses of terrifying chambers to gain experience, new weapons, money, and special abilities. We previously mentioned the 12 Greek gods that we will meet in the game world. It is from them that we will take our power.
We remember the first part of Hades
After each death, we return to the starting location, just like in the first game. However, we didn't start the game completely over. Some progress is actually preserved. Importantly, whether or not our character dies affects the story. This introduces the possibility of meeting characters that we would not have met if we had lived. When Melinoë returns to life, she may see Moros or Dora. These are new characters, but there will also be no shortage of those we know well from the first Hades. Since we're talking about Greek mythology, the issue of justice must be addressed. What do we mean by this? In Hades, we will be rewarded for both victory and defeat. We don't want to say more to spoil the fun, but it's another interesting tidbit in the game.
Sound makes you see more
Fans of the game have repeatedly praised the soundtrack on forums and in conversations. If you enjoyed the work done in the first part, we can safely say that you will be satisfied. Darren Korb (American game music composer) and Ashley Barett (singer) were once again invited to collaborate. Just to be clear, this is not the character played by Colbie Minifie in the Amazon series The Boys.
Voices of concern can also be heard
Hades 2 was first revealed at The Game Awards 2022, with an early access release planned for PC and Switch. However, the release date was later changed. Fans are concerned whether everything is going according to plan, given the recent string of unsuccessful game launches that have shaken the gaming industry. Players are understandably more cautious now. According to press releases, the sequel to Hades is scheduled for release in Q2 2024, and Supergiant Games assures us that we will love the game's content.
Summary
Hades 2 is a strong contender in the gaming market. Considering the previous installment and the developer's proposed improvements, it looks very promising. Supergiant knows what worked and what didn't, and they've learned from their experience. We can expect new adventures and a new protagonist who will face Chronos, the titan of time. The game will feature many new features, but it will also retain the elements that made us love the first game.
